The variety of nationally recognised courses offered are designed to provide opportunities and pathways from Certificate I to Diploma level.

CYTS can cater to individual group and agency needs by delivering short courses in specific nationally recognised competencies relevant to the youth and community services sectors. These can be non-accredited training and information events or nationally recognised training with Statements of Attainment. Throughout the Year CYTS runs 1 or 2 day accredited training workshops for it's regular students and/or other interested parties.

Some of the topics to be covered are:

  • Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Communication
  • Occupational Safety and Health
  • Senior First Aid
Any of the workshop topics mentioned above can also be delivered on a fee-for service basis in workplaces, to community groups or other settings, according to the needs of the client group.

CYTS also has on offer some other (non-accredited) innovative training courses that target self confidence, assertiveness, self esteem, communication and work preparation.

The non-accredited courses for young people are highly participative and draw on the young people's experiences and untapped skills. Art and communication can be combined in a fun and informal way in a non-threatening and supportive environment. Literacy and academic achievement are not pre-requisites for these courses. The training is portable and can be conducted on-site, according to the needs of the group.
